Comet Bay College have commenced a project that honours WA's veterans - Portrait of a Veteran. The aim of the project is to challenge people's perceptions of "what is a veteran?". The stereotype is an elderly man who was once in the army many years ago... and although that still represents a portion of the veteran community, there is a wide range of people who have served - male and female, old and young, Army, Navy and Airforce and from different cultural backgrounds. Portrait of Veteran aims to show that diversity.
Portrait of a Veteran are looking for artists to paint the portraits of veterans. The finished artworks will initially be displayed at the Comet Bay College ANZAC Service on Friday, April 28th 2017. The Governor, Her Excellency Kerry Sanderson AC will view the exhibition when she attends the ANZAC service. It is then hoped the collection will travel for public exhibition.
