Richard Bristow
Artist Statement
Richard first studied art at Chartesey in London,mainly pen & ink work while he was studying draughtsmanship, which he never took up, instead went into the Film Industry working on films & TV series for 23 years. In UK & Australia. Richard only began painting Watercolour in 1995 after a car accident. Richard has been an active member of many Art groups also has participated in workshops by Alvaro Castagnet, Robert Wade, Keiko Tanabe, also demonstrations by Viktoria Prischedko in Realistic Abstracts. He tries to put vibrancy to work when painting large paintings, this colourful realism,combined with composition and strong sense of light and shadow, He hopes to leave a lasting impression on the viewer. He also enjoy painting scenes of Tuscany, Provence, but now venturing into Wild Skies & Waves, in the USA he is called by some the “Cloud master” but “Wave master” is also another title given to him but now he likes to paint what he likes. Richard is a member of Trigg Art Club, The West Australian Society of Arts, Rockingham Watercolour Society, past member Qld. Watercolour Society. Assisted in running the “Lakes Gallery” in Dunsborough also a Gallery in Cardwell in Nth. Qld. He exhibits his work in local & state wide art shows. Varying his subjects/style. Sometimes using Gold or Silver leafing for impact. He treats painting as a hobby, but finds time to give workshops & demonstrations for intermediates. Has written art tips for “Watercolor Magic” (USA) “Leisure Painter” UK.& have had published 4 of his paintings in “Best of Worldwide landscape Artists” USA. Has won over 90 Awards in WA & Qld. also had 10 successful Solo Exhibitions. And still enjoys watercolours after all these years.
