Artist Statement

I am an emerging artist working, almost exclusively in watercolours. The advantage of watercolour are transparency, luminosity of colours and a range of tonal values through layers of washes or consistency of the colour mix. I paint realistic renderings from personal experiences and subjects that evoke memories of people, places and events. My subject matter includes portraits, landscapes and abstracts. I paint details from everyday life, becoming a personal record of scenes and images that resonate with me and the viewer. I enjoy the challenge of transferring the subject matter into a unique work of art capturing the image or form with all itrs complexities.
