Artist Statement

Originally from the UK but living in Perth since 2005 I took up painting in 2016 after a serious illness prompted a revaluation of my lifestyle and goals. Having been given a terminal cancer diagnosis of 6 to 9 months to live, it was a wakeup call to say the least. I felt the need to spend whatever time I had left doing things I had always wanted to do, but never had time for and it also ignited a passion to leave something behind for family and friends, something to be remembered by if you will. Initially a 4 hr Pastel’s workshop on seascapes got me hooked, I have not put down the pastels since! I find painting very therapeutic; you can lose yourself in it and can forget whatever worries you have. I now enjoy painting most subjects, but I am particularly inspired to paint flora and fauna and have recently started to explore other mediums. I continue to attend classes to improve my skills and learn new techniques. I regularly Exhibit my Art at Local Exhibitions and online. Many of my artworks are held in private collections in USA, Barbados, Northern Cyprus, Switzerland the UK and here in Australia. I also do commissioned pieces if I felt they would suit my style I member of both the Pastel Society of WA and Trigg Art Club and serve on the Committee of North Coast Art Club and am where I am starting to explore other mediums.
