Artist Statement

I am interested in the beauty found in everyday objects & in the tension between the carefully observed & the painterly. Light, texture & colour are as important to me as the objects themselves. Through still life, I can explore beauty, atmosphere, memory & humour, while allowing the process of painting to remain visible. I want my paintings to encourage the viewer to pause, look closely & perhaps see something that lingers in their mind .
