Artist Statement

These works explore my interest in observation, place and the natural world.  I am drawn to moments that make me pause: shifting light, unexpected colour, atmosphere and movement. Rather than simply recording what I see, I use colour and expressive mark-making to explore how a place or encounter is experienced and remembered, the small details that reveal themselves when we take the time to look.
