Artist Statement

Often I will photograph or sketch what catches my eye. I observe nature and what is around me, creating a feeling of peace. Some of these images will inform a painting I make. The light on subjects, clouds, affects of the weather, and the different times of day, or seasonal change. Pastel is my preferred medium for the immediacy of application and the purity of colour. I enjoy subtle changes applying soft layers to achiever the colour shift I want.
